Father and Son Charged in Vicious Assault on Woman and Dog That Shocked Israel

A disturbing case that sparked national outrage in Israel is now entering a critical phase in the judicial process. Boaz Shar, 32, will soon begin criminal mediation proceedings after he and his father, Yitzhak Shar, were charged with violently assaulting a neighbour and her dog in an incident that drew widespread condemnation. The attack occurred in April in the city of Petah Tikva, where the two allegedly launched a brutal assault on the woman and her pet in broad daylight.

According to the indictment, 62-year-old Yitzhak Shar became enraged upon seeing his neighbour walking her dog. Without provocation, he approached and kicked the dog, prompting the woman to plead with him not to touch her pet. Ignoring her protests, he reportedly shouted at her, “Get out of here,” before grabbing the dog’s leash and yanking it so forcefully that it began choking. The indictment describes a harrowing sequence: the father beat the dog with his fists, stomped on it, sat on it, and continued pulling on the leash until the dog began to foam at the mouth. He then lifted the leash upwards against a stone wall in a manner that mimicked hanging, further endangering the animal's life. During the attack, he allegedly told the woman, “We’re going to kill him.”

At this point, Boaz Shar arrived at the scene. Rather than intervening to stop the violence, he allegedly separated his father from the neighbor, grabbed the dog himself, and assisted in the continued assault. The situation escalated further when both father and son allegedly attacked the woman, throwing her to the ground. The father is said to have grabbed her by the hair and choked her, while Boaz knelt beside her, seized her legs, held one of her arms, and raised a clenched fist.

Following public outcry after video footage of the incident surfaced, both men were arrested. Yitzhak Shar faces multiple charges including assault causing actual bodily harm, making threats, and animal abuse. Boaz Shar has been charged with assault causing actual bodily harm. While the father remains in custody, the son has been released to house arrest. A plea deal is currently under negotiation for Yitzhak, and the mediation process for Boaz is intended to narrow disputes over the evidence, charges, and potential sentencing, possibly leading to an agreement without a full trial.

Lets hope these despicable human beings get no less than they deserve, and receive the exact treatment they gave to that poor girl and her dog.
