What began as a routine evening at a Tiberias hotel turned into a scene of fear and confusion after two guests were caught playing with a loaded handgun in the hallways, alarming both staff and visitors.

Security personnel at the hotel alerted police about two men behaving suspiciously. When the hotel’s chief of security confronted them, one of the suspects tossed an object into the parking lot which turned out to be a Glock pistol with a full magazine.

Surveillance Footage Reveals Alarming Behavior

Police arrested the two suspects, residents of Modi'in and Lod, and later reviewed the hotel’s surveillance cameras. What they saw was startling: the men were "playing war games" and pretending to open fire (“opening a zig,” in Israeli slang), while walking through guest-filled corridors with the weapon pointed at rooms and passersby.

According to investigators, the suspects continued the behavior for several minutes before heading down to the parking garage, where they realized they had been spotted by hotel security. One of them then attempted to discard the gun to avoid being caught.

Further searches of the suspects’ hotel room and vehicle revealed a range of concerning items: a combat knife, binoculars, ammunition, and various illegal drugs.

On Tuesday night, following an intensive investigation, police issued a formal statement of intent to prosecute. The Northern District Prosecutor's Office is expected to file indictments and request detention until the end of proceedings in the coming days at the Nazareth District Court.

This incident has sparked outrage online, with many expressing concern over the ease with which dangerous weapons make their way into civilian spaces. Police emphasized that brandishing a weapon in public even as a so-called joke is a serious offense under Israeli law.
